Seven years and I am still musing over this woman. Simply said, when Shayla and I get together we unleash MAGIC in the form of lifestyle portraits! She is the perfect mixture of delicate, fierce, sensual, and in her feminine energy. What rings true about our experience together is the simplicity by which it all went about. We emailed briefly, we went back and forth on some ideas over text, she picked her outfits, we talked about references, and BOOM: The beach came about and the sun, well the sun did his ultimate part!
The ease of these lifestyle portraits felt so familiar, as if we were mirroring each other at every step. I brought a little music to soothe the time, some towels to have her dry off, and our vision of beauty and strength.
When I look at these photographs I feel a sense of empowerment, as if my entire “womaness” was uplifted in some way or another. The latter was not the goal, however; I’ve come to learn that with creation and art, rarely does she ever follow a linear path. Most always does she come about with another meaning entirely or additional ones at least.
It is the TRUTH and so we must try and be open to the unfamiliar and surprising avenues that may awaken as we walk the path!
