A Second Chance Engagement: Star + William

“If you love something let it go, if it comes back then it is yours forever and if not it was never meant to be.”

I sit here contemplating on life and I try to understand what it truly means to love someone. Numerous bubbles popped in my head, but only 3 remained for further introspection.

Is the time ever right?

Is unconditional love knowing when to let go?

Is love about second chances?

The questions sound easy, but the more I thought about them the more I understood that the word “love” is simple, yet everything behind it is complex. Love is a beautiful word, but it also holds a lot of responsibility. Do not get me wrong, at this precise moment I am not trying to enlighten myself with some grander truth behind those questions. No! My curiosity only drove me to at least attempt to jot down some discoveries below each thought.

Well, I never thought meeting Star and William would help me glue together some of the pieces from the puzzle above.  Their story is one from the movies! Soft, gentle, passionate, and organic. Every detail was precise and predetermined by the Universe, because nothing else can truly explain their coming together. I am not entirely sure if I believe in love at first sight, but William’s encounter with Star is definitely one for the books.

Their story began four years ago at Seasons 52, a restaurant in South Florida. As Star began her training there, William subtly set his eyes on her. Unfortunately, after dating briefly they realized the timing just wasn’t right. They did remain good friends for the time being and continued to work at the restaurant.

The pivotal twist came at a wedding they both attended. William once again boldly laid his eyes on her while Star drew her own suspicions from such an act. To her surprise, he confessed he wanted to give their relationship a second chance and only hoped she felt the same way. Shocked, Star mentioned she would think about it to which he responded: “So Monday at 6pm…”

Their date (with a bit of sass on her end) went so well. He continued to court her and shower her with flowers. One day she went over his place and, well, never left! Today Star tells me that it was obvious: The time was not right before, but through it  they were able to build a sincere friendship from which their love could flourish.
