Yoga Portraits: The Calm In The Chaos With Jarod Schaedtler

The Calm in The Chaos

I first met Jarod at Dandelight Boutique Yoga Studio in Delray Beach, where we both guide our local community through the beautiful teachings of yoga. Our initial encounter was brief during a staff meeting, where I also happened to be taking the headshots for our team. My first impression of him was of a grounded energy. Someone with his feet on the ground. I remember sitting next to him and my nervous system feeling steady. I genuinely appreciated the calming feeling! What a gift!

We later reconnected at one of my photographic exhibits: “Introspective”, where he partook in the chakra flow class I was offering the community in conjunction with the theme of the photographs. I felt very much supported by his presence, alongside some of my fellow teachers that showed up to cheer me on. We didn’t cross paths much thereafter, besides the occasional hello at the studio’s elevator before or after teaching! I do recall him mentioning he wanted to “hit me up” about photographs, but that was all.

As patience is my biggest lesson in life, I waited for his communication. On a hot September afternoon I did indeed receive a text from Jarod about a photoshoot. We met at Subculture, one of my favorite coffee shops. Over some delicious beverages we talked into existence what later birthed our visual co-creation.

During our creative process, I learned quite a bit about Jarod. You see, when we work together letting me in is extremely important. Especially when it comes to planning and executing any visions, especially those that are close and dear to our hearts. My goal is to always have you be at your best, and that takes time, effort, and a willingness to understand well, YOU.

Jarod was an open book.  And as I do keep his story in the privacy of our conversations, I will say he did not have an easy upbringing. Which is in part why I believe he is so grounded and centered. He had to create, within himself, the calm in the chaos.

Through our co-creation and essentially the camera, I captured Jarod feeling fulfilment in his life. Truly appreciating and loving what he does. In his own journey of self-love he is transforming his own life lessons into teachings in the classroom.

While we scouted the buzzling streets of Miami Wynwood we brainstormed ways to fully encapsulate the serenity he brought to the busyness of it all. As he so lovely put it: “I’m beginning to live up to my life’s purpose.” What a beauty and an honor to bare witness of his unraveling and being a small part in highlighting his fullest potential.

Easy going, hilarious, and a big appetite for delicious food and adventure, that’s Jarod: The calm in the chaos.
